In July, KYDS proudly hosted a series of free Parent Information Sessions in Mandarin, supporting local Mandarin-speaking parents and carers to better understand and support their young people’s mental health.
The sessions, led by experienced clinician Fang Liu, covered topics such as navigating adolescent stress, improving parent-child communication, and recognising signs that a young person may need extra support. Delivered in a culturally responsive and welcoming environment, these sessions aimed to break down language and cultural barriers that can often prevent families from accessing help early.
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many parents sharing how helpful and reassuring it was to hear this information in their first language. Several attendees also expressed interest in attending more KYDS parenting programs in the future.
We’re incredibly grateful to the Help St Foundation, the families who took part and to our team for helping make these sessions a success. KYDS remains committed to providing inclusive and accessible mental health support for all young people and their families.
