Let’s connect

Thanks for taking the first step to getting support from KYDS.

Please fill out the form below to book an intake appointment. Your intake appointment will take place over the phone.

We are available Monday-Friday from 10am-6pm and Saturdays from 10am-4pm.

We’re here to help you.

We ask that all young people engaging with KYDS are:

  • Aged 10-18
  • Willing to engage in counselling support
  • Flexible in availability to attend sessions

Book an intake appointment

If you are making a booking on behalf of a young person, please fill out the intake form with the full name, date of birth and address of the young person you are referring. Please indicate the most appropriate contact number for the intake call - this may be your own or the parent/carer's.

We require consent from the young person before we can provide our services and encourage you to talk with them about their willingness to engage with KYDS.
Any potential barriers to a young person's engagement will be discussed during the intake phone call.

What happens next?

Intake call

A KYDS clinician will call you at your nominated appointment time for a 30-minute chat to help us understand how we can best support you or your young person.

Be matched with the right clinician

We will then pop you on a short waitlist (usually 4-6 weeks), during which time we’ll match you with an appropriate counsellor. If you’ve booked on behalf of a young person or their family, please let them know they are on our waitlist and a team member will be in touch.

You’re welcome to call us every 2 weeks to check on the waitlist. Please advise us if the challenges you’re experiencing escalate, so we can see if there’s a way to help sooner.

Schedule and attend counselling session

When a counsellor has an available appointment, we will call (and text) you with some options to choose from. Your counselling session will be about 60 minutes long and your clinician will ask you a few questions to get to know you better. You may also need to fill in some paperwork.

Book your next appointment

Your next appointment will be booked at the end of your session, based on how often you feel you would like to come to counselling.

KYDS is not a crisis service

If a young person’s mental health deteriorates while waiting to be seen by a member of our team, please visit the Emergency Department of your nearest hospital or call 000.
